Why your habit score has not appeared yet

A habit stays locked until enough people have rated enough of its behaviors. Once it unlocks, your first score arrives with the next weekly update, and the habit page shows a score once it has at least 4 answers from the last 90 days.

Engage does not show a habit score until it has enough feedback to be fair to you. Until then the habit is locked and Engage shows how close it is.

What unlocks a habit

A habit unlocks when all three of these are true:

  1. Enough answers. You need a number of scored answers equal to the habit's behaviors multiplied by 1.5, rounded up. A habit with 4 behaviors needs 6 answers. Your organization can change the 1.5. Don't Know answers do not count.
  2. Enough people. At least 3 different feedback providers must have rated you on it. (If your organization runs Lead360, it may set its own number.)
  3. Every behavior covered. Each behavior in the habit needs at least one score.

Where to see your progress

On Habits > My Habits, locked habits are listed under Collecting Data with a progress bar and a line such as 4 of 6 responses · 2 raters.

On your home dashboard, a locked habit may say:

  • Not enough feedback providers, (have 2, need 3): add people to your circle.
  • We've collected 60% of the responses needed to unlock this habit: keep waiting, answers are coming in.
  • We're still collecting data, check back soon!: you have the answers and raters, and Engage is waiting on a score for every behavior.

Unlocked, but no score yet

Unlock checks run every night, but scores are written by a weekly update. In between you see Score pending and Unlocked! Your first score arrives with the next weekly update. When it arrives, Engage celebrates with You've unlocked a new habit score! and a short note about where you landed. The highlight on the newly unlocked habit clears once you open it.

Score shown, then "Collecting Feedback"

On a habit's own page, Engage also needs at least 4 scored answers from the last 90 days before it shows the number. If recent feedback is thin, you see Collecting Feedback and how many more answers it needs, for example 2 more answers on this habit to score. Older answers fade out of your score over about 90 days.

Speed it up

  • Make sure you have at least 3 active feedback providers, ideally more. See Who should give me feedback?
  • Ask the people in your circle to answer their cards.
