Lesson 2 of 3
Structuring a Great 1:1
An effective 1:1 has a loose structure that prioritizes the employee's agenda. This lesson provides a framework you can adapt to your style.
Start with a check-in: "How are you doing?" Then move to their topics — let them drive the agenda. Cover any items you need to discuss. End with action items and next steps.
Keep a shared document where both of you can add topics before the meeting. This prevents the "I do not have anything to discuss" problem and ensures important items are not forgotten.
